[COVERS]

Let me get this out of the way first: I kind of love this theme a LOT. I collect all kinds of covers because I find the idea of a familiar song hashed out in a different way really -- for the lack of a better word -- fun. I have a thing for folksy music though; you might see some sort of trend going on here.

Isreal Kamamawiwo'ole [Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World]
Okay, I'm a huge fan of Scrubs, so a lot of these songs would sound a bit familiar if you watch the show. I was hunting down the version by The Blanks when I stumbled across this one. I suck at identifying genres, but it's got a... distinctly laid-back Hawaiian feel? /brick'd. Just think 50 First Dates. Yeah.

Joshua Radin [Sesame Street]
Oh, my childhood. ♥ It's an extremely toned-down, nostalgic take on the theme song, but Joshua Radin's style works great with the solo piano accompaniment.

Tilly & the Wall [Hey Ya]
Another song I found through Scrubs. The original's by Outkast, but I like this version much, much better. The original was catchy, but the melody never really got its chance to shine through like it did in this cover. Also, bonus points to whoever was singing 'shake shake it shake it like a polaroid picture' with such soulful abandon. XD

The Rasmus [Ghostbusters]
... Are you laughing at my song choices yet. Anyhoo. WHO YOU GONNA CALL. The Ghostbusters go ska! I'm really loving the strong rock guitar riffs here, since it balances out the piercing quality of the trumpets. The chorus is the most catchy thing ever.

Muse [Can't Take My Eyes Off You]
I have no excuse for this. It just amused me that Muse would do a cover of this song. XD It sounds like a cheap lounge act until they hit the chorus. And then it EXPLODES into full rock tempo. As far as covers go, this is just average stuff, but Muse's frontman has a unique singing style.

Jason Mraz [Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy]
TIME FOR THE QUEEN COVERS. I love Jason Mraz, no kidding. This song has an upbeat, carefree quality to it, and Jason Mraz's personal style suits it pretty well. I do find kind of strange that he actually sounds like Freddie Mercury at some points of the song, though.

Joss Stone [Under Pressure]
This girl has an amazing voice and Under Pressure sounds really good as an R&B/Soul type of song. The song seems to fall apart a little around the end, but it could just be my crazy speakers doing what they do best.

Oh yeah, they're all on mediafire, by the way. ♥ Enjoy!
