Possibly the most famous song in the Mughal-e-Azam soundtrack, sung in a scene that still has the power, for me, to cut through years of accumulated cynicism: Anarkali defiantly announces her love for Prince Salim before his father, Emperor Akbar, knowing she is doomed.
